On February 12, 2025, BCTA staff attended the Township of Langley Road Safety Strategy Stakeholder Workshop. The discussion focused on developing a comprehensive road safety strategy aligned with Vision Zero principles, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Key topics included best practices from other municipalities, collision data analysis, and strategies to manage speed and improve intersection safety. Public engagement feedback highlighted concerns about congestion and travel time reliability, emphasizing the need to balance safety improvements with traffic flow.
BCTA emphasized the importance of incorporating commercial transportation considerations into the strategy while ensuring road safety measures remain practical and enforceable.
Next steps include refining data collection methods, conducting regular safety audits, and enhancing collaboration between municipal and industry stakeholders. The Township remains committed to improving road safety through evidence-based solutions and targeted interventions.
