Lane Closures on Grandview Viaduct for Deck Repairs

Nov 25, 2024

White semi truck driving fast down British Columbia highway

The City of Vancouver has commenced road work on the Grandview Viaduct along E 1st Avenue, between Clark Drive and Terminal Avenue. To facilitate deck repairs, westbound lanes will be closed, with one lane in each direction maintained via the eastbound lanes. These lane closures will remain in effect 24/7 for approximately seven months, concluding in June 2025.

There are no planned changes to truck turning movements at the Clark Drive and E 1st Avenue intersection, but drivers should be aware of reduced lane widths in the construction zone. Lane widths will narrow to 3.2 metres, down from 3.5 metres, adjacent to the work area. Large vehicles, including tractor semitrailers, are advised to exercise caution when navigating through this section. Traffic flaggers will be present to adjust the traffic control setup as needed.

For ongoing updates, visit the project website here, follow the City’s traffic updates on X, or tune into local radio alerts.
