Commercial Vehicle Safety & Enforcement (CVSE) has been working to explore Term Oversize and Term Overweight (TROS/TROW) permits in the new onRouteBC system. Carrier input and perspective have been instrumental in identifying issues and testing solutions to prepare the system for industry-wide use.

On February 6, 2025, carriers will be able to self-issue TROS and TROW permits using onRouteBC, saving time and resources, while decreasing call queues and processing times at the Provincial Permit Centre (PPC). Permits issued through onRouteBC will have the same restrictions as permits issued through the current system but will look slightly different.

Carriers will remain responsible for adhering to the Commercial Transport Procedures Manual, as well as the Commercial Transport Act and Commercial Transport Regulations, to ensure compliance with permit conditions and policy.

In order to access onRouteBC, carriers must have:

• A Business BCeID;

• A credit card to pay for permits; and

• An email address to receive issued permits.

Supports available for industry:

• BCeID has many resources to help support creating accounts, including an Account and Profile Management Guide, and can be reached at 1-888-356-2741.

• The onRouteBC website will be updated in January with new information and related resources for the commercial vehicle industry.

• Carriers who do not have a Business BCeID or wish to pay for permits by Inspection Station Credit Account can still contact the PPC for permits at 1-800-559-9688.

While TROS and TROW permits may still be obtained through the PPC, we strongly encourage carriers to begin using onRouteBC, to increase comfort and familiarity with the system that will eventually support self-issuance of additional types of permits processed in B.C.
