Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is now accepting proposals for its education and awareness project funding, aimed at addressing knowledge gaps and increasing public and industry confidence in EV charging and clean fuels. This initiative supports Canada’s 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan, which targets a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions below 2005 levels by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

With transportation accounting for 18% of Canada’s total GHG emissions, increasing awareness about zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) charging infrastructure and clean fuels is key to accelerating adoption. Projects eligible for funding must focus on one of the following areas:

  • Charging, Charging Infrastructure, and Operation – Addressing gaps in awareness and knowledge about light-duty EV charging, charging infrastructure, and operation. (Note: Projects focused solely on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (MHDVs) or micromobility solutions are not eligible.)
  • Clean Fuels Awareness Projects – Increasing awareness and understanding of clean fuel types and technologies (e.g., hydrogen vehicles, biofuels, renewable natural gas, liquid synthetic fuels) across various industries and applications.

Proposals will be accepted until April 30, 2025. For full details on eligibility and funding areas, visit NRCan’s website.

For inquiries, contact NRCan at awareness-projects.projets-de-sensibilisation@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca.
