Kamloops – Pacific Way/Hwy 1 Project – Trucking Impacts

Mar 3, 2025

City of Kamploops Logo

The City of Kamloops, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, is moving forward with an infrastructure improvement project at the Pacific Way off-ramp (Exit 367) from Highway 1. The project, scheduled to begin on March 15th and conclude by June 30th, 2025, aims to enhance traffic flow and safety at this critical intersection.

The primary focus of this project is to expand the westbound Highway 1 off-ramp by adding a second westbound left-turn lane. This addition is expected to increase intersection capacity and alleviate congestion, reducing the risk of traffic queues backing up onto Highway 1.

A temporary full closure of the Pacific Way off-ramp will be required starting March 15 for approximately 4–6 weeks, pending necessary approvals. After this period, intermittent partial road closures will continue as work progresses.

Motorists should anticipate a brief adjustment period with extended congestion and queueing as drivers adapt to alternative routes. However, delays are expected to ease over time.

Drivers are urged to obey all posted signage and follow traffic control personnel’s instructions for safety. Construction activities are scheduled from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some evening and weekend work possible.

See map below of the streets that are affected.
